TopCIMA Discussion March 2009 27.01.10 by admin
CIMA in conjunction with FAT Training CC hosted a TOPCIMA discussion at the University of Johannesburg on Saturday 28 March 2009. The discussion, which was open to all students writing the TOPCIMA paper in May was hosted free of charge and was attended by a total of 49 students from and around Gauteng.
The May 2009 TOPCIMA case focused on a fictitious mobile phone company called Dizz. Mergan Pillay (ACMA, CA(SA), MBA) from MTN volunteered to lead the TOPCIMA discussion. Mergan’s presentation included:
- A discussion of the background to the mobile phone industry;
- An explanation of the key data and ratios used in the industry; and
- Highlighting the challenges and risks facing the mobile phone industry currently.
This is the second TOPCIMA discussion that CIMA and FAT Training CC have hosted together and according to the feedback from students who have attended, it seemed to be a resounding success. CIMA and FAT Training CC plan to continue this unique opportunity in future, whenever possible.
